Pre-Planning a Funeral

Pre-Planning a Funeral

Thinking about the inevitability of one's death is a subject few like to consider. For many, moving ahead with pre-planning and / or pre-paying of their funeral is even more difficult.

When one begins to understand the financial and emotional pressures a funeral often thrusts on our loved ones, it becomes clear that planning in advance is a considerate and responsible thing to do.

Similar to the protection life insurance provides for loved ones, planning a funeral in advance protects loved ones from more than just financial concerns.

You may already have prepaid funeral arrangements with another establishment;  however, if you would like Heritage Funeral Centre to serve your family and handle your affairs, these arrangements and prepaid funds can be transferred to Heritage Funeral Centre.  We would be honoured to assist you.  Please give us a call (416-423-1000) and we will take the necessary steps to process the transfer.  We will also cover any administration fees (which could be as much as $350.00) charged by the other funeral home.

We can guide you through, and help you understand, the many options and considerations relating to funeral arrangements which best suite your needs.  We will help you find a balance between the emotional, spiritual and financial needs of your surviving loved ones after you have gone.

Please contact our pre-need specialist Hayley Moffat, hayleymoffat@hotmail.com, or 416-423-1000 for more information and / or to set up a meeting to discuss funeral planning in person.

Pre-Paying a Funeral

There are numerous benefits to pre-paying one's funeral.  Some of them are:

  • Allows you to consider cost-effective options at a time when you are better prepared to make sound, fiscally responsible decisions.
  • At the time of need, funds are immediately available to pay funeral costs, with no waiting period for probate or other delays.
  • Prevents other insurance policies from being depleted at the time of a loved one’s death.
  • There are flexible payment options to meet your needs.
  • The death benefit of a pre-need plan grows over time to help offset incidental expenses
  • If you relocate to a new area, your pre-need plan transfers with you
  • The pre-need plan allows individuals to pre-fund funeral plans by making one single payment or spreading payments out over a period of one to fifteen years.
